About APE Isolated Spore Syringe

Also known as ISO syringe, APE Isolated spores contain stabilized genetics, offering a more consistent and vigorous phenotype compared to standard multispore syringes (MSS). While MSS spores exhibit high genetic diversity and multiple phenotypes, isolated spore syringes like APE ISO are carefully selected for uniformity, resulting in optimized research reliability under the microscope.

The Albino Penis Envy (APE) strain was introduced by mycologist Workman via the Shroomery forum. APE is a hybrid of the Penis Envy strain and the original PF Albino, selectively bred for its unique albino traits and distinctive “penis-shaped” caps. Workman explains that the albino mutation may have originated spontaneously or through UV exposure, but deliberate hybridization with healthier strains led to a robust, albino phenotype prized by mycologists. Microscopic Features of APE Spores

Albino Penis Envy spores are transparent, which can cause swabs to appear blue due to bruising but will look clear under a microscope. Spores are subellipsoid (ellipse-shaped) and borne on 4-spored basidia. Caps measure approximately 20-30mm in diameter with a mostly concave to slightly convex shape. Notably, APE caps rarely fully open, resulting in very low spore production, making spore prints nearly impossible. .
